A Memorial Day Weekend Celebration, Of Sorts

Memorial Day is kind of a weird one for me.  It's the day we remember our fallen soldiers.  Celebrating death is not really what I am into.  Celebrating life is more my taste.  So, that's how I have to look at it.  I had to explain to Liam what the difference was in the military holidays.  Apparently a lot of people get them confused or don't know what they represent.  Anyway, we celebrated on Monday.  We cooked out and Liam played around the yard.  He loved picking pine cones that had fallen from our trees.  We put them in a bowl that sat on one of our shelves in the living room.  Liam told me, "They look beautiful, mom."

Liam found our neighbor's little girl's old toy.

And then, of course, Landon was inside on his phone.  Hey, at least he smiled, right?

Pack and Play: Part 2

Another day of taking a much needed break from all of the hustle and bustle.  We had been going strong for quite a few weeks, which made for tired parents.  Aaron was working like crazy and trying to fit in some packing when he could and I was fighting a sickness that I couldn't seem to get rid of.  Aaron got sick, too!  It was a mess.  So, now you can see why we put packing on hold and gave our bodies a little rest.  It wasn't worth killing ourselves over, even if we were on a time crunch.

Liam was in a spunky mood and ready to get back outside and play.  Only this time he took one of his many train sets out to the driveway.  Anymore, I just let him play and snap pictures as he goes.  Those are the best, in my opinion, anyway.  I must say, he was rockin' the camera, without even trying.  He pretended to be tied up on the tracks so the train could "hit" him.  I love how those turned out!  I love his imagination and personality.  He has really changed a lot these last couple of years.

And then Liam discovered that he loves stairs.  So much, in fact, that I can't get him off of them at times.  It's a struggle.

So far, we are really really really enjoying our new home!  I can't wait to start making all kinds of fun, new memories here!!

Pack and Play

It was that time.  We had to pack up our entire house to get ready for the big move.  With packing comes exhaustion.  It was tough getting through each day knowing we had so much to do.  There were some days we would take breaks to do an activity or two with the kids.  It's challenging trying to juggle kids, a move, sleep, work, sports, etc.  Somehow we managed to pull through it all.  This is one of those times Aaron and I took a break from packing the house to play with Liam.  He spotted his dad's old toy in the garage and pulled it out again.  I think he was afraid that we were going to get rid of the toy garage since he watched us de-stash a lot of our stuff.  Aaron was present this time.

Then he found other things of interest.  Like comparing sizes of objects.

Life Happens

There's never a dull moment when it comes to our life.  Something is always going on.  Liam was sick for several days with ear and sinus infections, I got something similar from Liam (I'm still fighting it), then my mom went into the hospital with pneumonia and fluid on her lungs.  She won't be released until Monday (eight days total).  I have been running all over town trying to get last minute things done, such as paper work copied and signed for when we move into our new home soon.  It's been very chaotic lately and I am looking forward to finding some peace.  I'm more than ready to get settled and back into a routine.  My head is spinning just typing all of that!

P.S. Today is Oaks Day where we live.  This is the day before the Kentucky Derby and the kids are out of school so we can celebrate.  So, Happy Oaks Day from all of us!
