It's Beginning To Look A lot Like Christmas

As tradition goes, we put up our Christmas tree and outside lights after Thanksgiving.  Only this year I decorated the tree a little differently and we had a few obstacles with the outside lights along the way.  I can say we are finally up and going.  Phew!  Liam helped a ton this year.  I was happy to see that.  He loved putting ornaments on the tree and helping his dad with other things around the house.  Landon was nowhere to be found.  He has purposely made himself disappear when it comes to helping with Christmas decorations.  That excited little boy phase is looooong gone.  I guess he's had the role of "helper" for a lot of years that he is handing off the title to his little brother.  Liam doesn't seem to mind, so it works out great!

Thanksgiving 2015

At first this was just supposed to be the four of us.  We were invited to go out, but the thought of dealing with the crowd and Liam was stressful just thinking about it.  I decided to have a simple dinner at home.  I liked the idea of being in the comfort of my cozy place without all the chaos.  Then Aaron's parents wanted to join.  Liam was already having an off day.  It made me nervous having people over.  Liam was a crazy mess, but we got by....barely.  I'm still happy they were able to come over, though.  We definitely had enough food to stuff our little bellies and then maybe an army.  Overall, I'd say it was a nice Thanksgiving!  I had a good time!

I couldn't help but take a picture of these two doing dishes.  I cracked up!

And then Aaron's mom stepped in for a quick shot of her sipping coffee while her husband works in the kitchen.  I thought it was cute, and a nice switch in roles.

Dessert time!

Digging For Gems

Boy, what a mess!  The digging began and then quickly turned into quite a disaster.  Pieces everywhere!  We all took turns trying to find the hidden gems.  Liam was having a ball!  When we've gone out of town to visit museums, and the kids found digging exhibits, they would get lost for hours.  Well, this was no different.  I think Liam worked on this for a good two hours until he finally gave up for the night.  I left the mess overnight so he could continue the next day.  He's determined to find all of the gems.  Landon heard all of the commotion and walked over to see what was going on.  He had fun, too.  And it was a good opportunity for the boys to bond and take turns.  They were so cute to watch.

I love this picture.

Gun Roulette

As creepy as this title may be, it's a game that the boys around the neighborhood play with their toy guns.  It's like any other bang-bang-shoot-'em-up pretend game, really.  All they did was hide and chase each other around the yard, pretending to shoot the other guy.  The name of the game threw me off.  Regardless, they had so much fun.  They even allowed Liam to join.  It was definitely interesting to watch.

Prep time.

Toby got "shot."

Landon got "hit."

Liam's down for the count.

Aaaaaaaand, they're back in action.

Liam's down again, while Landon dodges "bullets."

The Calm After The Storm

Since this past Friday, Liam had been without his third medication (which seems to be the key ingredient for behavior).  We had to wait on the doctor and the insurance before the meds could be filled.  Plus, it's a controlled substance so a doctor's appointment is needed to get the script back on track.  He began taking them all together on Thursday morning.  School was sketchy, Halloween was nerve-racking (riding in a wagon and candy helped us), church was a huge bust (we thought we would try).  It was a big mess and I'm ecstatic to have it back in his system.  Wow, what a difference it made!  I felt a sense of calm come over our home, as well as in the classroom.  I hope this doesn't happen again.  Yikes!

Liam is so easy to please.  He doesn't need much to keep him entertained.  He likes buildings things, which is why Legos are such a great toy for him.  These teeny tiny pieces will be the death of me one day, but they're only little once.  And, what do ya know....Bubby joined in!  I haven't been able to photograph him too much lately.  Ya know, he's twelve.  Landon's obviously too cool for pictures now.  I have to catch him candidly.  He hates to stop and pose.  Hates it.

It's Bubby!

Playing with little brothers is exhausting.
