Oh Look, A Train Table

Liam about pooped his pants when he saw this thing for the first time.  He is obsessed with trains these days, so a train table in his room just about gave him a heart attack.  A friend of Aaron's gave us the table for this very reason.  It's a little big, but not as big as Liam's smile when he plays on it. Totally worth it!  Landon even found time out of his busy schedule to play for a bit.

Christmas 2014

This Christmas was amazing!  Liam gets more and more into Christmas with each passing year.  I can honestly say that this Christmas was the best.  The kids got what they wanted, and we even got what we wanted/needed.  :)  In the past, Aaron an I have agreed that it's about the kids, not us.  It's all about them in our house.  We take third and forth slots to the boys, but thanks to Aaron's loyal customers we were all set this holiday season.  His customers are the sweetest.  I love waking up in the morning and reading their Christmas cards.  Reading those makes me melt.  I also enjoy the yummy treats they send us.  So, so good.

This year was a little different.  Landon is now 11, which means he's at that age when doubt could be a factor.  Every child goes through this at different ages, but this was his year.  He talked to me about Santa more this year than any other year.  He was doubting.  I could see it in eyes and hear it in his voice.  I knew my moment was coming to sit down with him and explain it all.  After our conversation I went to the other room and wrote him a letter explaining everything, but in a more subtle way.  I let Aaron read it first to get his imput and, naturally, he cried like a baby.  I took Landon to a private area of our home and handed the letter to him while I sat there wondering if he would be upset or disappointed in me/us.  I found myself tearing up knowing that I was about to shatter my little boy's spirit.  After he was finished, he looked at me and smiled and told me that "he already knew."  He didn't seem upset at all, and even laughed about it.  Despite how he reacted, I was torn up inside.  It was another milestone in his life that we have experienced together, and a sad one.  He's growing up so fast!  On the other hand, I was relieved to have finally gotten to this place with Landon.  I was stressing out trying to figure out more creative hiding spots for gifts.  Not to mention that his wants were getting quite pricey.  Ya know, if Santa takes care of things why does it matter what things cost, right?  I made sure I mentioned not to spoil the element of wonder and magic for other kids, including his baby brother.  That wouldn't be fair.  I told Landon that one day I will sit down with Liam just as I sat down with him.  It's sad, but I am happy that it's out in the open now!

I hope everyone had a nice Christmas!!

Boys Being Boys

I can't remember the last time the boys had some fun together around the house.  I mean, real fun without all the fighting.  Landon and Liam are in two different places and have completely different schedules, so for them to get together is really a challenge at times.  I enjoy photographing these moments so much.  I'm going to miss these moments when they are gone.
