Brusha, Brusha, Brusha

For the longest time Liam hasn't shown much interest in taking on teeth-brushing.  Yes, we've tried on numerous occasions (including OT sessions), but never wanted anything to do with it.  The dentist wasn't too concerned as long as he took to it eventually.  And, we all knew that it would come like anything else.  The first thing that comes to mind when I am trying to encourage Liam to brush is this jingle:

Brusha, Brusha, Brusha
Get the new Ipana
With the brand new flavor
It's dandy for your teeth
Brusha, Brusha, Brusha
New Ipana toothpaste
Brusha, Brusha, Brusha
Knock out
Decay Germs Fast, Fast, Faster
You're sure alright

Lately he has been doing great, with a little bribery.  If I let him play in the water for a few minutes, he is more prone to brush his teeth (or at least let me get in his mouth).  At first it started with a battle, then bribing him with water and assisting him in brushing, to him attempting to do it on his own.  It seems like these little things are happening overnight.  One day he is one way and then next he is a brand new kid.  I'm not complaining a bit.

For awhile there we were using our ottoman from our living room to give him the height that he needed (mainly for therapies).  For his birthday he received this stepping stool, which helped tremendously.  Plus, it was more appropriate and convenient for what we were using the step for.  I'm still contemplating getting him a faucet extender so he doesn't have to reach in so far for the water, but so far, he's doing a great job and everything is working out wonderfully.

On a side note:  Liam is now wearing pull-ups around the house and at preschool.  Pretty much wherever there is a potty handy.  He's doing great!
