project 365: week 43

296.  Photo shoot with the Youngs.
297.  We took a family walk around the neighborhood.
298.  While Landon was playing I snapped a picture of my shadow.
299.  Landon watching the girls next door.  His pants cracked me up.  Is having your pants hiked up to your chin the new way to attract a mate?
300.  Liam in his new cast.  It supposedly glows in the dark.  Evidently little McLiam was not impressed.
301.  Landon made himself orange juice.
302.  We made S'mores in the oven.  Yum!

Simply Fall {link up}: Week 7

Welcome to Simply Fall week seven.  As always, you have until November 2nd to link up with me or Captivus.

I can't express enough how much I love the Fall.  It's so darn pretty.  I was taking a family walk and found some beautiful Fall foliage along the way.  It was like the neighborhood next to ours was on fire - a mixture of reds, oranges, golds, and such.  Gorgeous!

I used a vintage edit this time around instead of the SOOC, or quick sharpening edit I use a majority of the time.

I hope everyone has a fun, safe Halloween!  If I don't respond to comments or e-mails this weekend, it's because my baby 1.0 is turning the big eight (and of course, having some Halloween fun)!!  So, I apologize in advance for not getting back to you.

289.  Photo shoot with the Hattons.
290.  Aaron teaches a little girl next door how to hold a football.  Good thing we have boys!
291.  Landon was bummed because his friends weren't home.
292.  Liam fed a baby in therapy.  Very cute.
293.  I caught Landon watching some tube.
294.  Landon and Liam show some love and snuggle up.
295.  Landon's dinosaurs were on the prowl.

things you can find on a photo shoot

When I'm photographing clients, I'm usually focused strictly on them.  But, every now and then I will find something that catches my eye while on location - a unique looking tree or flower, a cute dog playing frisbee with its owner, a couple snuggled up against a tree, a little boy flying a kite, or....this guy.

Isn't he a big ball of fun?  The whole group had a good laugh, myself included.

fun with friends

Since Toby and Grace have moved in and played at our house a time or two, Landon has been hooked.  Every day after school he is asking me if he can go outside to play, hoping Toby and Grace will see him in our back yard.  He swings on the swing patiently waiting for them to notice.   He cracks me up.  I told him I didn't want him leaving the yard, nor did I want him bugging our neighbors every five minutes with, "Can [insert name here] come out and play?".  I know how annoying that can be so I teach him to leave people alone (and to stay out of their homes, if I can help it).  Maybe I'm a weird parent, I don't know.  So far, Landon's master plan has worked.  He's outside no more than ten minutes and suddenly I have a group of kiddos climbing and running everywhere. I love how quickly he makes friends and how happy he is when he's around them.

On a side note:  I can't believe my first-born is going to be an eight-year-old this weekend!  *sniff*  I'm sad, but at the same time I am overjoyed to have him in our lives for a wonderful and very exciting eight years.  He is such a blessing!

I Heart Faces: Let Them Be Little

Being a photographer, I deal with a lot of different personalities, ages and such.  For the most part everyone does very well, but sometimes you get a youngin' who is tuckering out or is going through the wonderful phase of separation anxiety.  I captured something special and quite adorable.  When Mom walked away, he lost it.  As she started to swoop in all Supermom like with her cape flapping in the wind to rescue her offspring, I kindly told her to wait.  Being a first-time Mama, it was difficult for her to do.  But, when she saw the picture for the first time, it was one of her favorites...and she thanked me.  Isn't he a doll?  This was perfect for this week's theme at I heart Faces, well, because I let him be little - himself.  It's what babies do.  It's not all lollipops and rainbows, right?

a little fresh air

This time of year I expected it to be cooling off immensely.  By immensely, I mean heavy coats, scarves wrapped tightly around our faces, sweaters, boots, gloves, and so on.  Nope, not here.  It's just cool enough for a long-sleeved shirt and pants, and maybe a light sweater some days.  Since we didn't have to bundle the kids in their snow gear just yet, we took a little walk to enjoy the Indian Summer-ish weather.  It felt great!  Not only was it nice outside, I think we were all ready to get out of the house.  I know poor little Liam was ready.

Simply Fall {link up}: Week 6

Welcome to week six of Simply Fall.  As always, you have until November 2nd to link up with me or Captivus
As for my submission this week, I will have to say that my outdoor time hasn't been the best except for hanging out with the kids for literally a few minutes at a time.  I was walking around the neighborhood looking for something different to photograph and saw these things peeking up from the ground.  I'm not sure what they are, but they had a nice Fall color to them.  Simply simple is what I would like to call them.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Barnum and Bailey called

They said they want their circus monkeys back.  It is nothing short of monkeying around when it comes to my boys.  Liam was finally able to get a nap in and Landon's second day of Fall break from school.  Landon was supposed to be grounded since he left our yard without permission like any eight-year-old would do.  But, I told him he could hang out with me outside for a few minutes.  His punishment was he wasn't allowed to play with his friends.  I think hanging out with your parents is punishment enough, especially at this age.  But, he told me he had the best time.  I guess my plan backfired.  "So, I'm a cool Mom, huh?"  Landon replies, "Yep!"  Bummer.  I was secretly hoping for a different reaction since he was technically grounded.  He wasn't supposed to have fun!  We did cartwheels, some jumping, climbing, and such.  He took pictures of me attempting a cartwheel I hadn't done in ages.  Wasn't the prettiest sight to see, but Landon had fun watching...and playing photographer.  He loves the camera, whether behind it or in front of it.  It was gorgeous outside, but very windy.  Look at those puffy clouds!

My sweater jacket was flapping in the wind.  Landon said it looked as though I was going to fly.

project 365: week 41

Wow.  Only 11 more weeks in the year?  We've come so far and don't have that far to go.  Landon's 8th birthday party is coming up, then Thanksgiving, then Christmas (which I host).  Oh, and then I have a party to plan for my husband's 40th in January. Good grief.  If you don't see me for awhile, you know why and you can't say I didn't warn ya.  ;)  I'm a party planning/get-together fiend.  Busy, busy!  As if I don't have enough going on with school, doctor appointments, the house, blogging, photography and so on, right?  Ha!

282.  I had a photo shoot with a group of friends.
283.  I had two photo shoots with the Longwells and the Kochs.
284.  A friend of mine makes hats and such so she let me use this hat for various photographs for when she opens up her Etsy shop.  Liam is officially a model for Little Lovelys (Landon will be, too).  Never thought I would see the day.
285.  Landon brought home some Fall crafts from school.  I love his creativity.
286.  Liam turned 26 months!
287.  Since it's been warm here lately, when we got a good shower it felt a little like a summer rain.  It was so pretty outside.
288.  Landon's leaf collection.

liam turns 26 months!

Not much has changed these days.  I think he's done better in therapies being confined a little more.  But, I know the poor kid wants to do so much than what he is capable of doing.  I feel bad for him, especially knowing that this can go on for another three or four months.  And even then we're not out of the woods.  He'll be over three years of age before all of this is over.  Gah!   It's such a shame that his precious toddlerhood is gone - the fun part in my opinion.  Oh well, he's managing just fine...and he's still as happy as ever.  He's a tough kid.

Simply Fall {link up}: Week 5

275.  I joined in on the Scott Kelby Photo Walk.
276.  I caught Landon playing checkers.
277.  I played around with my camera a bit out of pure boredom.
278.  If Liam could talk he would have said, "No Mama, Bubby stays here with me.  You are not taking away my human pillow."  Definitely a little guard dog
279.  Since it's been nice outside lately, Peyton hung out in our back yard with other neighbor dogs.
280.  Liam showing me his sweet face while waiting for the Optometrist to come in.
281.  My morning walk consisted of pretty trees reflecting the morning sun.

Scott Kelby WWPW 2011

My SIL and I teamed up this past weekend for Scott Kelby's World Wide Photo Walk.  I had such a great time!  Not only did I get a few hours away from the fam and spend quality time with my SIL, but I got to do what I loved.  We walked around the city for a bit taking pictures of anything and everything our little eyeballs could plant on.  I have made a pact with myself that at some point I'll do this once or twice a month on my own, or with a buddy, capturing different cities.  I loved walking around talking with locals and meeting other photogs.  They were such a fun bunch of people.  After we were finished roaming the city we met up at restaurant down by the river.  It was nice.  So nice in fact, I had a beer... and no kids.  Stop the bus.  What?!  Yes, this sister was a childless, adult beverage drinker.  Freedom, baby!  I was in hog Heaven.  If my SIL didn't have plans that night, I would have kidnapped her for a little while longer and hit the "big" city to get our dance on.  Okay, I know, I've gone a little too far.  Or have I?  I'll say it again just because is feels good rolling off my fingertips...freedom, baby!  Loved it!

[sorry family]

I haven't posted all of them, and I'm still trying to figure out which one to enter tomorrow.  Out of these, any suggestions?
